Abstract

This article reflects on David Harvey’s Theory of Urban Income, in his “Urbanism and Social Inequality” (Spanish edition, 1977), according to which there are factors considered “non-tangible” or “intangible” that could “interfere” in the idea of ??well-being of populations in – preferably - urban centers. Faced with the swelling of cities throughout the world, especially large metropolises, whose names we all know, the British-born geographer – with a Marxist background – “goes beyond”, hence our choice, the simple historical-materialist dialectic on “capital” to, flirting with “Postmodern Criticism”, provoke a third and complex path of analysis in the face of a crisis of paradigms in Theories of Knowledge between positivism and “conceptual” pluralism. By way of conclusion, Harvey transcends the classical Marxism of the “class struggle”, for example, and incorporates reflections that dialogue with the postmodern or the relativization of Power.
