Uso e comércio de aves silvestres como pets em um ecótono piauiense: Etnoornitologia e conservação

Resumo

O presente trabalho investigou o uso e o comércio ilegal de aves silvestres para fins de estimação em uma região de ecótono entre os biomas Caatinga e Cerrado no norte piauiense. Os objetivos incluíram identificar as espécies capturadas, caracterizar a dinâmica da cadeia de comércio, analisar a influência de fatores socioeconômicos sobre a riqueza de espécies exploradas e as implicações conservacionistas. Os dados foram coletados entre 2017 e 2019 por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas com 44 participantes selecionados pela técnica bola-de-neve e observação participante. Foram registradas 31 espécies de aves distribuídas em 13 famílias, sendo Paroaria dominicana e Cacicus cela as mais valorizadas na cadeia de comércio local. A maior parte dos caçadores era do sexo masculino, com baixa escolaridade, residentes na zona rural e com acesso a recursos tecnológicos como uso de smartphones e veículos motorizados. As técnicas mais comuns de captura foram alçapão e coleta de filhotes diretamente no ninho. O comércio ocorre de forma informal, com destaque para vendas locais e trocas entre municípios vizinhos, facilitadas por redes sociais e meios de transportes motorizados. As análises estatísticas revelaram que idade e zona de residência não influenciaram significativamente a diversidade de espécies capturadas. Contudo, houve forte correlação entre o número de espécies citadas e as técnicas utilizadas. Esta pesquisa destaca a importância de ações de educação ambiental e fiscalização, considerando os aspectos socioculturais locais, para mitigar os impactos do tráfico de aves e promover a conservação da avifauna regional.
